The people gaining awards have been, without exception, well received.
Congratulations to Citizen of the Year, Patrick Whale, probably a long overdue recipient of this, Boorowa's highest accolade.
The Australia Day Committee (ADC) Awards went to four very deserving and in some cases overdue recipients.
Congratulations to Sina Banks, Jack Ryan, Chris Corcoran and Sharon Meere.
In memory of the late Leonard and Joan Oxley, the Boorowa ADC introduced a memorial award acknowledging citizens giving virtually a lifetime of service to Boorowa.
The stunned recipient this year is Bede Morrissey.

Australia Day Ambassador was Robina Beard OAM, better known to us as 'Madge the Manicurist' in a long running series of Palmolive detergent commercials.
Robina shared many of her life experiences in a vibrant, energetic manner belying her tender 81 years.
Interwoven in her speeches, love of Australia and Australians was strong.
Robina will be hard to forget.

On this day in 1965 the state funeral of Winston Churchill was held at St Paul's Cathedral, London.
Then the world's largest ever state funeral, truly befitting, the respect given by a nation with so much to thank him for, guiding Britain through the mire of WWII and beyond.
Representatives from over 120 countries attended the ceremony watched by, would you believe, 350 million on television.
Famous for so many quotes, this one so relevant today, "Politics is more dangerous than war, for in war you are only killed once".

An atheist was seated next to a little girl on an aeroplane and he turned to her and said, "Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with a fellow passenger".
The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied, "What would you like to talk about?"
"Oh, I don't know," said the atheist smugly, "How about why there is no God, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death".
"Okay," she said, "those could be interesting topics, but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass, yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, but a horse produced clumps. Why do you suppose that is?"
The atheist, surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, "Hmm, I have no idea".
To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss God, Heaven or Hell, or life here after when you don't know crap?"

Boorowa is very generous in its support of charities and it has been drawn to my attention that the very popular Lions Club Christmas cakes and puddings have again been well supported.
Add to this, the Lions Mints go very steadily and the Ronald McDonald boxes around town always have healthy responses.
My informants assured me the club is very gratified by the way this community supports these Lions Club projects.
For your information, the Ronald McDonald House money goes directly to Wagga and Ronald McDonald House there has helped many a Boorowa family.
The cakes, puddings and mints monies goes into community programs.
Boorowa community generosity is another factor as to why Boorowa is a great place to live.
