The Bishop of the Canberra and Goulburn Anglican Diocese, the Rt Rev Mark Short, will be paying his first visit to Boorowa on November 30.
Bishop Short will attend the Parish Dinner on that night, and will preach and celebrate Holy Communion at the 9.30am service in St John's Church the following morning.
Prior to becoming the Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn he was the National Director of the Bush Church Aid Society, working in partnership with 17 Anglican Dioceses and other Christian organisations across Australia to support gospel workers in remote and regional areas.
He was ordained in 1996 and awarded a Bachelor of Theology with Honours from Moore Theological College in 1997.
Following ordination he was Deacon Assistant and Assistant Priest in the Parish of Temora, before becoming a Lucas-Tooth Scholar and undertaking a PhD at the University of Durham, UK.
The title of his thesis was 'From One Generation to Another: The Passover as Collective Memory.'
During his time in Durham he was an Honorary Assistant at St Nicholas Church of England.
From 2002 to 2011 Bishop Mark was Rector of the Parish of Turvey Park (Wagga Wagga) and priest in Charge of Tarcutta.
In 2007 he became Vocation Director Archdeacon, co-ordinating and overseeing the tri-Diocesan vocation process for new ordinands.
From 2009 to 2011 he was Archdeacon of Wagga Wagga, where he shared oversight of 20 parishes, Anglicare and School Ministry across the region.
On his visit to Boorowa, the Bishop will be accompanied by his wife Monica, who is a lecturer in social work. They have two adult sons.
As this is Bishop Short's fist visit to Boorowa, he will be looking forward to meeting as many local people as possible.
The Boorowa Anglican Parish is also now preparing for the busy Christmas season.
Services within the Parish will be held at Tangmangaroo at 5pm and Murringo at 8pm on Christmas Eve, and at 9.30am at St John's Boorowa on Christmas Day.
