Farmers are doing it increasingly tough and the effect on rural communities worsens as one, then another business is forced to close.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said only last week that the effects of the drought could be more severe and felt more in Australia than the global financial crisis.
Where drought is felt the most, people are screaming for help, some of which has been forthcoming, but more is required. Australia must look after its own.
Increasingly I hear more and more people saying Australia should cut aid we are sending overseas and support the people here who need it.
Neil Langford on 2LF spoke very well regarding this need with very sensible balance in what he said.
I am sure growing numbers of people will support this view, we should stop, or reduce overseas aid until such time the crisis here has passed - and that is in the lap of the Lord.
In February 2018 I quoted Cicero in his mantra for good government. One section read "...and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome will become bankrupt."
Cicero, a Roman politician and lawyer, said these words 2074 years ago. When will we ever learn?

A rich Arab walks into a bar and is about to order a drink when he sees a guy close by wearing a Jewish cap, a prayer shawl and traditional locks of hair ... he knows he's Jewish. He shouts over to the bartender loudly so everyone can hear, "Drinks for everyone in here, but not for the Jew over there."
Soon after the drinks have been handed out, the Jew gives the Arab a big smile and says, "Thank you", in an equally loud voice.
This infuriates the Arab and he once again loudly orders drinks for everyone except the Jew. As before, this does not seem to bother the Jew who again yells, "Thank you".
The Arab asks the bartender, "What's the matter with that Jew? I've ordered two rounds of drinks for everyone in the bar but him, and all he does is smile and thank me".
The bartender replies, "He owns the bar".

Woolfest has come and gone with the organisers again providing a great event, so well done.
Regular attendees would have noticed some changes. Stage moved to opposite the Courthouse, food stalls changed as were sites for other attractions, It will be interesting to see how these changes were received - meeting to be scheduled.
