The Boorowa Rovers Premiership dream ended in a nightmare last Saturday when the Crookwell Green Devils produced an outstanding first half blitz to win 48-12. The defending champions scored four tries in the opening fifteen minutes leaving the local crowd stunned and the locals' premiership aspirations in tatters. Crookwell will now move on to this week's minor semi final against Harden at Harden on Sunday.

Crookwell jumped out of the boxes on Saturday, scoring at will. They scored at better than a point a minute to lead by 20-0 after just a quarter of an hour. The Rovers stemmed the bleeding briefly as they gained an even share of possession but when Crookwell scored their fifth try of the half to make it 26-0, the situation had become dire. On the stroke of halftime, Boorowa finally scored a try through Nic Stephens which Andrew Burns converted to make it 26-6 at the break.
It was always going to be a long way back which was virtually made impossible when the Green Devils scored first in the second stanza for a 32-6 lead. The Rovers weren't about to give it away just yet as Will Stanley crossed for the home team and Andrew Burns converted to make it 32-12. Boorowa hung in bravely as they have done all season however with just twelve minutes left, Crookwell went in again to seal the result at 38-12 before running in two more late tries for a 48-12 final score.
Whilst the loss on Sunday was disappointing, it has been a very productive season for the Rovers.
With two playing coaches this year and plenty of young blood coming through the ranks, Boorowa troubled all other sides during the season. Provided they can keep the majority of team together, they will be a force in 2020.
In the George Tooke Shield this weekend, the major semi final will see North Canberra Bears take on Bungendore Tigers. The Bears should be well rested after the week off and should be too strong for the Tigers. North Canberra by 10.
The minor semi final sees Harden take on Crookwell at Harden on Sunday. Harden will thrive on the home ground advantage, but Crookwell are really building some late season momentum. The Green Devils should be too strong for the Hawks who have been soundly beaten in the last two weeks. Crookwell by 8.
UNDER 16s TAKE TO THE BIGGEST STAGE OF ALL THIS FRIDAY NIGHT
For local supporters, the attention turns to Friday night when the all conquering under 16s play their Grand final against the Queanbeyan Blues.
The lads have had a stellar season against more fancied opposition and are a huge chance this Friday night.
They beat Queanbeyan just two weeks ago in the major semi final by 28-18 but will need to be at their best to repeat the dose.
Good luck to all those involved and hopefully plenty of local supporters can make the trip to Queanbeyan to cheer on the boys.
