And just like that the 2019 season for the Goldies is over after a very hard-fought game that ultimately didn't go our way.

Last Saturday the Goldies took on Condoblin at home in front of a massive crowd in the semi-finals. Having already beaten Condo twice this year the boys went in confident that they could get the win but knew it would be tough because Condo had improved quite a lot with each game.
I have never been one to makes excuses or talk crap, ever, but the Goldies were without some players like Brad Rose and Tim Groggery as well as some players playing with injuries and illness, never the less they got out there and had a crack.
It wasn't a high scoring game, finishing 12-8 Condo's way.
The Goldies had some season best plays but ultimately couldn't apply the killer punch. On a few occasions they were all set to score but their hands let them down in the end. That is just bush footy, I guess.
All be it a loss there were some really good individual performances.
Phil Maine on a few occasion carved up their defence and terrorised them all evening, Mark Poplin, as per usual, supplied some great back up and made some awesome runs.
Meanwhile, Will McGuinness guided the team around really well throughout the game and Brendon "better than Thomas" McGrath again like every single game this year did the work of about six players, for a small bloke he gets his body into positions and tackles that you wouldn't put a donkey.
In the forward Tommy PC Crummy Carnell make a huge difference in the scrum and carrying the ball while being very sick and really probably shouldn't have played. Tommy Simson was simply outstanding, I counted he made 38 tackles in the game, he just always turns up.
How this team has improved through the year is simply great. The coaching team of Head Coach Andrew Corcoran, Assistant/Backs coach Benny Johnson and High Performance and Morale Coach Dave Corcoran should be very proud of the boys as a team and individuals.
The coaching team also need to be applauded for their dedication throughout the whole season, training preparation, game preparation, pre-season preparation and many more things they do doesn't just happen a huge amount of planning, dedication and time is spent to make it all happen and I know all the players and fans really appreciate it. Well done, Andrew, Benny, Dave and Will Schmidt.
A huge shout out also goes to Captain Marty Corcoran. Mart turns up to every training session, game and function and keeps everything on track.
A massive congratulations to Club President Justin Fleming, Club Secretary Jo-Anne Rowley and all the committee who all worked so hard in organising a great season.
To all the sponsors who support the club, while you may not be at the game or playing, you are extremely generous and giving.
A special mention to the major sponsor the Top Pub, Young and Mike. Mike what you do for the club is really outstanding, driving the bus to the away game, staying overnight with the players at away games, cooking the BBQ on Tuesday night after training with Dave Corcoran and Russell Gorham, always making sure there is water at training and running the water at games, providing meals for the players after games and training, Mike goes above and beyond his sponsorship all the time while having a creepy smile on his face.
While the season is over, the great memories of the 50 year of complete gold rugby will live on.
I will leave you with this quote to ponder for the off season: "Common sense is like deodorant, the people who need it most never use it."
Ponder that.
