Boorowa sadly says goodbye to another endearing character with the passing of Gwen Malone, our much loved Matron. Gwen was Matron of our hospital for some thirty years and I'm assured ran a very good 'ship' - but what else would one expect from Gwen.

Gwen loved her Anglican Church, her garden, and, importantly, her family and enjoyed the Garden Club when it operated, especially the excursions where she did display a little naughty streak. I guess you could say her sense of humour came to the fore.
Always bright, always enjoyed a laugh, ever friendly, she leaves very fond memories for many.

A very worthwhile endeavor is the establishment of the Community Garden adjacent to the Men's Den in the Showground precinct.

Speaking of worthwhile, what would our hospital do without our hardworking Hospital Auxiliary? They've got their AGM on Thursday, August 8 and invite new residents or never before volunteers to get along and get to know this energetic group.
The AGM is at the Ex-Services Club, 11.30am for a 12pm lunch. Cost is $30.
A very important , but social way to find out what is done to help our hospital - you never know, one day you may need it.

There are two statues in a park, a nude man and a nude woman. They had been facing each other across a pathway for a hundred years, when one day an angel comes down from the sky and with a single gesture, brings the two to life.
The angel tells them, "As a reward for being so patient through a hundred blazing summers and dismal winters, you have been given life for thirty minutes to do what you've wished to do the most".
The statues look at each other and go running behind the shrubbery. The angel waits patiently as the bushes rustle and giggling ensues.
After fifteen minutes, the two return, out of breath and laughing. The angel tells them, "You have fifteen minutes left, would you care to do it again?"
He asks her, "Shall we?"
She eagerly replies, "OH yes! But let's change positions. This time I'll hold the pigeon down and you crap on its head".
Now what were you thinking two liberated statues might get up to?

Boorowa has got another champion, Martin Carney - a champion sausage sandwich eater. Martin attended the Bogan Gate Bogan Festival and devoured 25, that's right 25, sausage sandwiches to take the title. A friend telling me was hoping they were without onion - so is the ozone layer.
