Welcome to new residents
Young Library is holding a welcome to new residents and an open day next month.
The day will serve as an opportunity to greet new residents to the region and to show them the services at the Hilltops library in Young.
It's also a chance for existing residents and borrowers to connect with their library and update themselves on the services and facilities available.
This event will be over two hours from 10am to 12 noon on Saturday, June 1.
Joyful voices
Young Services Club is venue for a concert to be held later this month, with a singing group from Sydney and a choir from Young.
Hilltops Choir combine with the Macquarie Singers for a concert on Sunday May 26.
Payment at the door is $15 for adults and $10 concession.
Harden exhibition
The invitation is to come for the opening night on Friday or pop in over the weekend. Whichever you decide, organisers of the Harden Murrumburrah Camera Club Competition and Exhibition are looking for community support.
Venue is the Murrumburrah Court House in Albury Street.
Opening night is from 7.30pm while viewing is available on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3.30pm.
Quilt show
Young Lion Club host their annual quilt show this weekend at the town hall in Boorowa Street, Young.
View the creative skills of quiltmakers.
There are many themes and material selection.
Don't forget to enter in the people's choice contest.
Doors open from 10am to 4.30pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sunday.
Writer's workshop
The Lambing Flat Fellowship of Australian Writers plans another writers' festival next month.
Topic of the workshop is writing memoirs, and the session will be conducted by Kerry Chater, an author, manuscript reviewer and educator from the Blue Mountains.
The workshop will be held on June 22 and 23.
Mercy Nurses
A big influx of visitors is expected in Young this weekend for a reunion of former Sacred Heart/ Mercy Hospital nurses.
The hospital operated from 1911 to 1984 and 115 nurses will take part in the reunion this year.
They are coming from Queensland, South Australia, Sydney, Canberra and all points of the compass.
The nurses, including five nuns, have a full program planned.
May 24 - Take 5 on Friday with Boorowa singer Bede Morrissey, 12.30pm to 1.00pm, free and all welcome.
May 24 - Official opening of the Harden Murrumburrah Camera Club photographic competition at 7.30pm at the Courthouse Murrumburrah. The exhibition is then open for viewing over the weekend of May 25/26.
May 25/26 - Young Lions Club Annual Quilt Show, Young Town Hall.
May 27 - The Howie Bros at Young Bowling Club, 10.30am till 12 noon, $15 per person. Lunch available afterwards at a separate cost.
