"We were very happy with the crowd and we'd be very pleased [if] we can maintain that level," Kelly said of the crowd numbers, adding that there were "10 sites the whole way of the straight."
A notable event was the victory of locally owned horse, Cryfowl - ridden by Ashley Boyd and trained by Scott Spackman - in the 1200m Picnic Sprint.
Boyd also piloted another winner on the day, riding Red Opera to victory in the 1000m Maiden Plate.
"[It] was a big thrill for a lot of the locals," Kelly stated.
The headline race of the day - The 1700m Picnic Cup - was won by Doug Gorrel's Southern Gamble, with Maddison Wright riding the horse to victory, beating out punter's favourite, the John Rolfe-trained Burrangong.
Kelly also paid tribute to this year's sponsors.
"We certainly made it our focus... to attract some good sponsors and make sure they get something for it," he said.
The president also thanked jockeys, some of whom travelled from as far as Victoria, for taking part after the previous week's accident at Tomingley.
"A big thank you to all of the jockeys who turned up, because some drove a long way," Kelly said.
