A four tooth ram in the March-shorn ram class bred by Wal and George Merriman, Merryville, Boorowa took out the grand championship for the finewool section of the Merino show in the Cox Pavilion.
Under the watchful eye of judge Andrew Rintoul, Tilba Tilba Merinos, Dongiemon, Western Australia, the Merryville-bred ram had graduated to the championship for finewool ram before taking the ultimate award.
"He has a load of wool, with balance and purity," Mr Rintoul said.
The reserve grand champion ram was exhibited by the McLaren family, Nerstane, Woolbrook.
They had further success taking the ewe grand championship with a four tooth ewe which had already claimed the March-shorn finewool championship.
"She is a really lovely sheep, the purity of her wool is amazing and she has tremendous depth and length of body," Mr Rintoul said.
The reserve grand champion ewe, a two tooth March-shorn entry was exhibited by the Alcock family, Greenland, Bungarby.
