A MOTORIST has been charged with supply and possess prohibited drugs following a random breath test on the weekend.

At 2.10pm on Saturday, police stopped a vehicle on Cowcumbla Street in Cootamundra, for the purpose of a random breath test.
The 23-year-old male driver was subject to a random breath test which returned a positive result.

The motorist was then arrested and taken to Cootamundra Police Station where he was subject to a breath analysis which returned a negative result.
Upon searching the man, police located substances believed to be methylamphetamine, and resealable bags.
He was charged with supply and possess prohibited drug - indictable quantity, and granted conditional bail to appear at Cootamundra Local Court next month.
Meanwhile, the region's police officers have made a plea following a high number of fatalities on Western NSW roads so far this year.
Western Region Traffic Tactician Inspector Ben Macfarlane said a number of single-vehicle and off-road accidents had featured among the region's fatalities.
"They could be fatigue or driver distraction, it's a concern," he said.
"We're still getting that percentage who weren't wearing their seatbelts when they crashed."
Two separate stints of double demerit points apply for motorists, these run from April 18-22, and then April 24-28. The period applies from midnight on the start date to midnight on the finish date.
