The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement allowing people to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.
It is celebrated annually in more than 170 countries. The aim is to bring together people of various cultures and traditions in a yearly common day of prayer, as well as in a closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout the year.
Offerings from the day are used in Australia to provide grants for various women's and children's programmes, as each country's committee is responsible for determining the use of the money raised as it relates to the theme of the year.
This year the theme is 'Come - Everything is ready,' which stems from a parable in the Gospel of Luke. The country under focus this year is Slovenia.
The service will begin at 2pm, all are welcome to attend, and the service will be followed by afternoon tea.
