We have a fabulous committee and while we are small we are one of the most financially successful shows and we are looking to grow the show in the coming years.
- Narelle Nixon, Secretary - Boorowa Show Committee
Show Secretary, Narelle Nixon, said the show office has been a popular venue this week and will only get busier next week leading up to the show. “Entries have been coming in with a lot of people getting prepared early, while the Commercial Cattle Competition has already been held with the Corkhill family taking top honours”, she said.
The Boorowa Show is a traditional agricultural show in every sense. From sheep shearing, cattle showing and horse events through to delicious baked goods, home grown produce and creative craft and artworks, the pavilion will be full of entries showing the best Boorowa and the surrounding region have to offer.
Narelle said of particular excitement was the poultry award for Best Bird in Show which comes with a trophy and $1000 in prize money. “It is an amazing prize for the best bird which is made possible by the generosity of the Burton-Taylor family”, she said. “The prize money is astonishing, especially when you compare it to the Sydney Royal Easter Show whose prize money is only $250”.
The show committee is looking to expand the show over the coming years with Narelle inviting everyone to join the committee and lend a hand. “We’d love to get more volunteers on board and include events such as the Showgirl Competition and Farmers Challenge”.
