There has been much media attention recently on how girls aren't completing science based subjects when they enter the HSC.
Even though female students have consistently achieved higher results in the science subjects across the state, the number of enrollments in these subjects has always been skewed towards having more male enrollments in these subjects.
However, it couldn't be further from the truth at Boorowa Central School with our entire senior science cohort consisting of only female students.
Our girls are stepping up and completing challenging activities and experiments that will give them excellent skills when they enter the workforce and university.
It is great to see girls engaged and interested in studying science as there are so many opportunities and jobs for girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) based roles, often described as “jobs of the future”.
