Owner of Carmody’s Newsagency, Margaret Carmody, said by taking on the Post Office it would enable the service to stay local.
“We want to maintain the services of the Post Office in Boorowa,” she said.
She said the response from locals has been great
“It’s been very positive, we’ve been very lucky,” she said.
An Australia Post spokesperson said the new store will offer the same range of postal products and services as before, including banking and Billpay services.
“Australia Post is pleased to advise the new Boorowa Post Office is now open at Carmodys Newsagency,” the spokesperson said.

Mrs Carmody said the post office is “fully up and running” and will also be open on Saturdays.
“Lots of people will find that convenient,” she said.
Opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, and Saturday 9am – 12pm.
