Ex-Service Bowls Club President, John Crowe, almost speechless at the grant, thanked Prue for her great support.
He explained the green maintenance program, which was mostly carried out by voluntary labour.
The grant will be used to replace the green edges to bring them up to current standards.
In addition, sun shades will be installed on the east and north side of the green.
The big cost will be the upgrading of the lighting for the green.
John explained that the very popular twilight competition will benefit from much improved lighting.
Pru in reply said that the government was pleased to support local programs, which have a big component of voluntary labour.
Last Thursday’s social bowls was almost washed out by very welcome, heavy rain.
Six bowlers braved the weather to play 15 ends.
The team handling the conditions best and running out close winners were Dick Mattress, John Crowe and John Dymock.
The last social bowls for the year will be on this Thursday at 12.30pm.
