Starting with a welcoming morning tea and a look around the local museum, which has existed previously as a funeral parlour, general store and bee-keeping business, visitors quickly got an appreciation for the depth of Boorowa’s history.
After receiving some background information about Boorowa the group then took a tour of the town, before having lunch at local pub the Top Hotel.
While a couple of the visitors were doing sentimental return visits to Boorowa, the majority were coming for the first time and didn’t realise the depth of Boorowa’s history.
The Boorowa and District Historical Society, founded in 1974, is a community-run organisation that records important local events, particularly focusing on family and industrial history.
