A MAN will re-appear in court charged with alleged money laundering after police locate $1 million in cash in the boot of a vehicle south-east of Young.

Earlier this year, detectives from the Organised Crime Squad’s Money Laundering Unit and investigators from the NSW Crime Commission established Strike Force Bibury to investigate a criminal network suspected to be involved in money laundering.
As part of the ongoing investigation, strike force detectives were conducting inquiries into a possible cash run between Melbourne and Sydney in early November.

About 12.30am on Saturday, November 10, strike force detectives, assisted by officers from the Hume Police District, stopped a vehicle as it was travelling northbound on the Hume Highway, Sutton Forest.
Police conducted a roadside drug test on the 47-year-old male driver, which returned a positive reading for methylamphetamine.
The officers also spoke with the 38-year-old male passenger before conducting a search of the vehicle.
During a search of the boot, police located a sports bag containing $1 million cash.

Both men were arrested and taken to Moss Vale Police Station.
The vehicle was also towed to the police station, where it underwent further examination and officers located numerous mobile phones, methylamphetamine and other items relevant to the investigation.
Strike force detectives charged the 38-year-old Surry Hills man with recklessly deal in the proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail and appeared at Goulburn Local Court, where he was formally refused bail. He is next due to appear at the same court on Monday, November 19.
Local police charged the 47-year-old St Ives man with drive, licence suspended, by way of a Future Court Attendance Notice.
The vehicle was also towed to the police station, where it underwent further examination and officers located numerous mobile phones, methylamphetamine and other items relevant to the investigation.
The man was also subjected to a secondary drug test, which has been sent for analysis. Any further charges depend on the drug test results.
He is due to appear at Goulburn Local Court on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.
Following further inquiries, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a home unit at Surry Hills about midday on November 12, followed by an extensive search of a vehicle on November 13.

During the searches, police located and seized various forms of fraudulent identification information, methylamphetamine, and cannabis.
Investigations under Strike Force Bibury are continuing and further charges are expected.
