To commemorate this event, the Boorowa RSL sub-Branch will be holding a Service at the Boorowa War Memorial which will include the unveiling and dedication of five plaques which record the efforts of Boorowa citizens in various conflicts that have not previously been recognised.
Major General Steve Meekin AM (Retd), a distinguished retired Army officer, has agreed to officiate at the unveiling. The Service is scheduled to commence at 10.40am so you are advised to be on site before 10.30am.
After the Service has finished there will be a musical interlude with performances by the Boorowa Music and Dramatic Society and the School Choirs.
In Europe at the end of the “Great War” many of the church bells were rung to celebrate the end of the war.
We will be ringing the bells in Boorowa as a tribute to that event at 12 noon.
A first-class lunch will be served at the Boorowa Ex-services and Citizens’ Club with Chef Richard Banks officiating. Lunch will be served at 1pm and the cost will be $30 per head.
We are offering one complementary meal to the servicemen or their immediate family that are commemorated on plaques to be unveiled on the day.
If you wish to attend please call Phil Armitage on 0416 292 767 and see if there are any places left.
