The works involve the removal of existing play equipment and sand softfall and installation of all ability inclusive play equipment and rubber softfall.
“This inclusive play space offers a variety of options for children to choose from and will help to promote active play within the Boorowa community while providing a social space for the community to enjoy,” Hilltops Mayor, Councillor Brian Ingram said.
The playground has been designed for children from one to sixteen years of age and will help children build problem solving skills and receive the physical benefits of gross motor skill development and exercise.
This project has been funded through the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund following a successful application submitted by Hilltops Council.
Boorowa Rec Park will also see a number of other upgrades under the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
New toilets will be installed after the Christmas break, with Council allocating $130,000 from the fund to the project.
Lighting in the park will also be refurbished, with new light posts installed on the eastern side of the creek.
Installation on the western side will start in mid-November after the completion of the work on the playground.
The park will remain closed until completion of the project which is expected to be prior to November 30, 2018.
