On a cold, wet, miserable Tuesday evening, August 21, a woman towing a horse had a nasty accident 20km north, adjacent to the passing lanes on Lachlan Valley Way. The horse float was ruined and the woman was trapped in the overturned vehicle.

Luck was on her side, she wasn’t another Lachlan Valley Way statistic. There was no luck involved in the way our support systems jumped into action to help this woman. There was a quick response to the 000 call, pagers and text messages quickly had Godfrey’s Creek and Boorowa support brigades on hand. Ambulance arrived, as did two council employees to help with traffic control, and finally the police.
I have been told the concern for the horse and three dogs was exceptional. The woman, hung up in her seat belt was eventually successfully removed through the windscreen cavity.
Being told this story, it was obvious there was a lot of pride in a job well done and thanks we must be that we have such an effective system in place to come to the aid of those most in need.
Speed, efficiency and compassion in spades.

Cathy and Roland Walsh have daughter Elizabeth home from Tanzania for a couple of weeks.
Elizabeth, an accountant, has been working with Maternity Africa helping to construct a new 40 bed maternity hospital which opened in June.
Deaths of mothers and babies is high in Tanzania and other African nations, little wonder, with there being only two midwives for every 10,000 women.
Elizabeth has been doing this essential voluntary work for three years and has a delightful story (or two) to tell. Come along to St John’s Anglican Church hall 11am this coming Sunday, September 2, and be inspired by this wonderful girl.
A light lunch will follow and people are asked to donate $10 toward Maternity Africa. RSVP is tomorrow, September 31, to Cathy 0429 853 251.
The church service is 9.30am, you’re invited to attend that too.

We are all familiar with the ongoing drought and pray for substantial rainfall to ease the situation. It is heartwarming to see the generosity of the people of Australia who have donated millions to help ease the hardship farmers endure.
The good folk of Frogmore want to pitch in and do their bit, organizing a ‘Drinks Night’, 7pm, Saturday September 8, in the Frogmore Hall.
Get along, yarn about the weather, cost of living or simply enjoy the company of family and friends. Also a chance to farewell Jason and Leanne Corcoran and thank them for their contribution to the Frogmore community.

After the political shenanigans of last week, which, if you take notice of reactions of people in the streets or on talkback radio, we are all utterly sick of the embarrassment the politicians have brought on themselves and the Australian public. Australia is becoming an international laughing stock.
We have some wise old heads here in Boorowa, and I think Coral Farrell has come up with the best solution saying, “Get rid of the lot and start again.” Couldn’t agree more.
