A local man, having to be on the road early each morning, recently almost hit a young lady walking along a road. He didn’t see her and only good fortune avoided a catastrophe.
“Why didn’t he see her?” you ask.
It was early, light was poor, and she was walking on the left hand side of the road and wearing dark clothing.
When walking on a road, walk on the right hand side facing oncoming traffic. Wear something bright and, especially when light is poor, something reflective. Such suitable apparel is available.
In this case, one lucky walker and one relieved motorist.
When walking, jogging, cycling, riding, driving … think safety … be safe.

Elections are rapidly coming up for both State and Federal Parliaments. The former Boorowa Shire is in a different electorate than Harden and Young.

Sixty year old George took himself off to the new doctor and after two visits and exhaustive lab tests, the doc told George he was doing fairly well for his age.
A little concerned about the comment George asked, “Do you think I’ll live to 85?”
When asked, “Do you smoke or drink beer, wine or hard liquor?”
“Not much grog these days. I don’t smoke or do drugs either,” George replied.
The doc asked, “Do you eat steaks, fatty roasts and barbecued ribs?”
George replied, “Not much … my former doctor said all red meat is very unhealthy.”
“Do you spend a lot of time in the sun like golfing, boating, surfing, hiking or bicycling?”
“No I don’t,” replied George.
The doc asked, “Do you gamble, drive fast cars or regularly make love?”
“No way!’ George replied.
The doctor looked at George and said, “Then why the hell do you want to live to 85?”

The plight of the soccer team lost in a Thai cave captured world attention. Thirteen countries combined their diving, rescue and medical skills to successfully bring the team to safety … impossible became possible.
This almost unbelievable rescue not only captured world attention, but has movie producers scrambling over each other trying to claim movie rights.
I was taken with one Thai Navy Seal when, in an interview, he sang snippets from John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’, including the section that says, “And the world will be as one”.
The world polarized behind the plight of the young boys, was enthralled by the skills of the rescuers and elated with the successful outcome. The world almost came together as one.
It’s a shame it takes a disaster or potential disaster to unite us. As John Lennon Said, “Imagine all the people living life in peace.”
Maybe the world would be as one if we faced an invasion from outer space aliens. Perish the thought … but then again, haven’t the movie moguls done that already?
