In a match they were expected to win comfortably, the Rovers looked patchy at times, taking a long time to assert their authority over the Knights.
The game was thirteen minutes old before Boorowa breached the stubborn ADFA defence through a try to Anthony Crowe.
ADFA hit back soon after and Boorowa held a slender 6-4 after 25 minutes.
Three unanswered tries in the space of five minutes to the Rovers blew the game apart and with a 20-4 lead at oranges, Boorowa had some breathing space.
After some halftime reflection to say the least by coach Burns, it took just three minutes into the second half before Boorowa scored through Stephen Death on the back of some better attack.
Anthony Crowe scored his second try after ten minutes of the second stanza and at 32-4 the game was relatively safe.
To their credit, ADFA continued coming and added two more tries of their own before Boorowa scored the final try through Anthony Crowe with just three minutes left.
Crowey’s quadrella of tries was the highlight of the 46-12 result that was dominated by continual stoppages.
The Rovers were happy to be back in the winners circle and got through the game injury free.
For the Rovers, the man mountain Joseph Banks got three points looking the goods with some devastating carries into the defence.
Anthony Crowe was at his elusive best getting two points whilst Murray Armour continued his good season with one point.
Anthony Crowe took the players’ player award.
Boorowa 46, Anthony Crowe 4, Steven Death 2, Blake Anderson, Aaron Burgess, Daniel Roberts tries Andrew Burns 4, Josh Carmody Goals beat ADFA 12.
In the league tag, the Roverettes had little trouble in disposing of ADFA by 60-0 in a twelve try romp.
The ADFA girls tried hard with the halftime score at 20-0 before the Boorowa side took full toll of a tiring ADFA defence.
For Boorowa, Mackella Pye picked up the three points for a great game with many attacking runs, Sarah Anderson got two points and Amanda Noakes got one point.
Players’ player went to Sarah Anderson.
Boorowa 60, Amanda Noakes 4, Mackella Pye 3, Sarah Anderson 2, Georgia Murray, Rachel Corkery, Jessie Abnett tries, Peyton Power 3, Georgia Murray 2, Amanda Noakes goals beat ADFA 0.
The most entertaining game of the triple header was the Youth league game that saw a thriller 16-All draw played out between the combined Boorowa/Harden outfit and the Yass Magpies.
Yass got away too a flying start with three unanswered tries to lead 16-0 after 25 minutes.
A heavy penalty count saw the locals starved for possession and the score line could have been even more except for some resilient defence.
Harden/Boorowa struck back with tries to Patrick Smith and Brody Butt in the dying minutes of the first half and whilst trailing 16-10 at halftime, they were back in the contest.
The second half was an arm wrestle with both teams having their chances only to be denied by good defence which forced each team to commit crucial errors.
After 16 minutes it was Harden/Boorowa who crossed through Tom Butt.
Rory Bolger added the goal and at 16-16 it was any ones game.
The local side was finishing the stronger and despite hammering the Yass line in the dying stages, they were to be denied the win.
A 16-16 draw was a fair indication of the teams and no doubt they we clash again this season.
Harden/Boorowa 16, tries to P Smith, B Butt, T Butt, goals R Bolger 2, drew with Yass 16.
In other George Tooke Shield results, Harden 62 dominated the UC Grizzlies 12, Bungendore 20 defeated Binalong 18 whilst Crookwell 30 upset the North Canberra Bears 18. Gunning had the bye.
In other league tag results, Bungendore 30 beat Binalong 6, Harden 28 defeated UC Grizzlies 0, Crookwell 16 beat North Canberra 14 and Gunning had the bye.
This weekend, all three local teams head to the hills to take on Crookwell with the youth league commencing the day at noon.
Just one point separates the Youth league sides on the ladder so this game is critical and will be close.
The league tag is a similar story with both teams level on competition points and currently in the top five.
Meanwhile the Rovers face their third tough game in four weeks when the play the Green Devils who sit just two points above them with Harden and North Canberra.
There is little between the four top teams and a win to the Rovers is vital if they are to challenge for a top three spot come semi final time.
Crookwell have been in good form and the Rovers will need to go up a gear to win away from home.
This week’s other games in George Tooke and League Tag sees Bungendore take on ADFA in the Friday night fixture at Bungendore. Harden host Binalong in the local derby on Saturday whilst Gunning face a tough outing against North Canberra at Gunning on Saturday.
UC Grizzlies have a much needed bye.
In the Youth league, Crookwell hosts Boorowa/Harden and Tuggeranong are at home against North Canberra Bears. Yass Magpies have the bye.
See you all at Crookwell but if you can’t make that one, the locals next home game is June 16 which is also Sponsors day.
