After losing narrowly last week to Premiership heavyweights Harden, the Rovers pushed North Canberra all the way going down 22-18 in Canberra.
The Rovers have issued a sound warning to the other big guns in the competition and provided they can stay relatively injury free, they will definitely be a Premiership threat come September.
Boorowa trailed for most of the game on Saturday and after being down by 16-6 at halftime, they outscored the Bears by 10-6 in the second half with the Bears eventually prevailing by four points.
Jack Thom was sensational for the Rovers in defence and attack to pick up the three points.
Murray Armour continued his steller form to earn two points and Mr Consistency Daniel Roberts got one point. Players’ player went to Murray Armour who is relishing his roll in the forward pack.
It was better news for the Boorowa Roverettes who returned to form downing the Bears by 22-10.
The Roverettes played some of their best footy of the season to have the game all but sewn up with a 22-0 halftime lead.
They may have taken the foot of the pedal in the second half but they still coasted to a comfortable win.
The victory was vital and keeps the Roverettes in striking distance of the competition leaders.
Best for the Roverettes was Mackella Pye who continues to impress picking up three points.
Danni Gilbert had a blinder picking up two points whilst the consistent Jessie Abnett got one point.
The other confirmed result in George Tooke Shield saw Harden 84 thrash Gunning 0.
In league tag, Bungendore 34 beat UC Grizzlies 0 and Harden 52 beat Gunning 0.
In the Youth league Yass 16 beat North Canberra 0 and Crookwell 24 beat Tuggeranong 14.
This weekend will see the following matches in both the league tag and George Tooke Shield.
Boorowa are at home against ADFA, Binalong Brahmans will host the Bungendore Tigers, UC Grizzlies entertain the Harden Hawks and the match of the round will see the North Canberra Bears host the Crookwell Green Devils.
Gunning have the bye.
Meanwhile the youth league sees Harden/Boorowa host Yass and North Canberra at home against Crookwell. Tuggeranong have the bye.
This weekend sees the perfect opportunity for Boorowa supporters to see all three teams in action in Boorowa.
The combined Boorowa/Harden Youth league team take on Yass in what could well be the match of the day at noon.
Then the Roverettes are in action at 1.20pm against ADFA followed by the main game between the Rovers and ADFA at 2.30pm when the Rovers will try and return to the winners circle.
It will be a great day of league action so do yourself a favour and get there early.
See you Saturday.
