Member for Hume, the Hon. Pru Goward MP and Hilltops Councillor Wendy Tuckerman, along with staff, children and their families were on hand for the opening to cut the ribbon and serve out cake. 

Ms Goward praised the design of the garden. 

“They’ve done a wonderful job with the sensory garden, the mud kitchen is my favourite and it’s just brilliant, it’s really cleverly designed,” she said. 

Mrs Tuckerman thanked the State Government for giving the BEE Centre a $22,000 to complete the landscaping of the garden. 

“We’ve produced a wonderful, sensory garden that is just fantastic for the kids and certainly for the staff and their program in helping to educate the kids,” she said. 

“We just wanted to thank you and show you how wonderful it is.”

BEE Centre Director Sheree Shoring said it was great to see the garden officially opened. 

“It’s pretty much complete, it’s going to be an ongoing project but we’ll keep adding to it as the years go on,” she said. 

“The children love it, there’s lot of fabulous things for them to explore and do and it makes it much more engaging.”

The garden features two sand pits, with one specifically for babies, boardwalks, a dry creek bed, a wooden Teepee, a sensory garden, mud kitchen and stage.
