Clear skies and a wisp of cool air greeted the large crowd attending the 65th running of the Boorowa Picnic Races last Saturday afternoon.

The feature race of the day was the Dunk Insurance 2018 Boorowa APRC Picnic Cup over 1700 metres
The big race was taken out by the Narromine trained five year old ZAPHOD ridden by Alan Barton for trainer Kylie Kennedy.
Second placing went to the winner of the race from last year, Black Fusion with Ghost Rider finishing third.
Unfortunately the jockey William Pearson was dislodged from the saddle soon after the finish sustaining some superficial injuries along with young female jockey Paula Mills falling from her mount Coolamine who was also not seriously injured however both riders were unable to fulfill their remaining riding engagements.
Other winners from the big day at Boorowa included:
- Meg’s Gem in race one for Shannon Fogg.
- The Joe Cleary trained Emissions in race two.
- The Fancy Jonesgirl for Ricky Blewitt in race three.
- Race five resulted in a win for Mystique Beauty ridden by Dylan Dean.
- The final race was taken out by Shoulder Charge for Moruya trainer Chicka Pearson.
The highly competitive and popular Fashions in the Field was taken out by Alison Jones from Yass who was named the winner for the Ladies’ section.
Wally Merriman was the winner for the Men’s division looking extremely resplendent in a magnificent woolen overcoat.
