With a few players like Brad Rose, Justin Fleming, Brenden McGrath and Wal Merriman all out due to injuries and work commitments it was always going to be a tough task heading to Bungendore and getting a result.
The Mudchooks eventually ran out 50-22 winners.
However that being said there was some really good positives.
Michael Berry had an outstanding game.
He held his own in the scrum, made some great carries always breaking the gain line.
He showed great passion and has come leaps and bounds since the start of the season.
Good on ya Bez…
Tommy Simson in true Tommy fashion was all over the park all evening, making a total of 87 tackles all with two very swollen ankles.
He probably shouldn’t have played the second half but he just strapped them up at half time and kept going.
In the backs, Tom the Pom stood into Brad’s shoes at five eighth.
After a shaky start he really settled into his role and guided the team around quite well for an English man.
The scrum was probably the most pleasing aspect of the afternoon.
It is beginning to show some good improvements.
Trim Gregory said after the game “yeeeeahhh mate, tough game, some positives, some negatives, some funny things, some not so funny things, yeeeeeahhh mate gonna have a grog on the bus on the way home and sheer a few blokes”. Righto thanks Greggors.
Not sure what he means but I know he means well.
Tim also had another great game.
Really leading the pack around and in everything.
A huge shout out to the travelling supporters who made the trip and braced the cold wintry conditions on the sideline.
Really good for the players to have some supporters on the sideline to cheer you on especially when it’s a tough game.
Sadly Mully didn’t get to the game.
Club President Justin Fleming said after the game: “Tough game in tough conditions. A few positives to take from it. I will be back for the Crookwell game in two weeks which will make a massive difference to the team and especially the forwards. They missed my grunt, dynamism, skill set and all round greatness.”
We have a by this weekend for the races but the Goldies have tent.
Make sure you come around and have 16 beers with us.
