Bay Kelly, along with 150 trucks with 200 trailers, left Darlington Point on Australia Day this year, arriving in Cunnamulla, Queensland later that afternoon.
He delivered 33 bales of hay, which was kindly donated by Vic Brewer and his nephew Dougal Kelly, to Andy and Kim Higgins at Boobera Station, approximately 100kms north west of Cunnamulla.
Mr Kelly said helping drought-stricken farmers was a worthwhile cause.
“It’s a good deed for charity, farmers helping farmers. I’d do it again,” he said.
Mr Kelly delivered the load in his 1982 model Kensworth SAR, the second oldest truck on the run.
He said the various Rotary Clubs, the Cunnamulla Picnic Races Club and local organisations looked after all of the drivers and crew well, providing food and a party when they arrived.
My Kelly would like to thank Vic and Dougal for their kind donation.
