The Jindabyne Bush Pigs came to Boorowa to take on the Goldies as well as the arrival home of Percy the Pig.
A group of Goldies earlier in the week very kindly volunteered to push Perc from Cargo to Canowindra and did a mighty job.
Thanks guys, Perc appreciated it.
Saturday was always going to be a tough game with the high winds sweeping across the showgrounds.
The Bush Pigs got off to a great start with an early try and a couple of penalties.
The Goldies were finding it very difficult to break a very solid defence.
There were some very good individual performance on the Goldies side however we lacked a cohesive team effort.
The Bush Pigs probably used the strong wind to their advantage in the first half compared to the Goldies in the second half.
Up front, Jez, Timmy Grog and Tommy Simson all had great games.
Making the hard yards, tackling like there was no tomorrow.
In the backs… Well, well, you know where this is going… Brad Rose of course stood out again… What is it with this guy always scoring tries… Doesn’t he realise there are 14 other players on the team? Unbelievable… I did speak to his mum after the game about it and she said and I quote: “My Bradley is the best, he reminds me of Gillette, ‘The best a man can get’”.
Righteo… leave that there.
It was disappointing to lose by three points however the Goldies know they have a lot more in the tank.
A couple of good training sessions this week with Le Cheese will no doubt brush things up and they will be better after the loss.
This week’s points were:
- 3 points: Timmy Grog
- 2 points: Brendon McCakeGate
- 1 point: Tommy Simson
- Players’ Player went to Timmy Grog…
This weekend we take on Gungahlin at home.
It is ‘Old Boys’ weekend so please get to the game early as there are reports traffic will be heavy with all the Zimmer fames making their way to the games slowly.
The theme for the game and the pub after is 80’s so please get around it and dress up.
Tom Corcoran is just going to wear his normal everyday clothes and will no doubt fit right in.
