Climate Smart Innovation for the Central West is the theme of a conference in Cowra on April 18 and 19 that will explore the future of agricultural practices and showcase interesting projects in the region.

The two-day Climate Smart Innovations (CSI) for the Central West Conference is for anyone interested in sustainable land-use, Director, Environmental Services Cowra Council, Kate Alberry said.
“The conference will showcase the latest in our region's agricultural, environmental and conservation advancements, and include a full-day ‘Splash’ workshop” Ms Alberry said.
“It will promote new and sustainable production methods for land production and environmental stakeholders in the central west,” she added.
Major speakers at the conference include agronomists, environmental, climate application scientists; with former ABC central west presenter Cr Bruce Reynolds from Blayney Shire the master of ceremonies.
Farm visits will also feature.
“Hear from this range of outstanding speakers, take part in farm tours and meet the producers to sample some amazing local produce!”
Workshops/tours for the conference include to the Dairy and Bio-Digester at Moxey Farms, Gooloogong; a “Splash” Living Waterways Framework Workshop on Water Sensitive urban design principles; and a Wine and Forage Tour.
“This dynamic conference will highlight how the region has and continues to build an inventive future that is based on agricultural, environmental, and conservation advancements,” Ms Alberry said.
“It will incorporate a variety of outstanding speakers, workshops and tours showcasing the region’s latest innovations in response to climate adaption research and provide the opportunity to sample some amazing local produce,” Ms Alberry said.
The conference is sponsored by Cowra Shire Council and its Section 355 Natural Resource Management Advisory Committee.
