Brad and Maria Cartwright of “Kempton” Crookwell have been awarded the third Annual Southern Tablelands Flock Ewe Champion with their Thalabah bloodline maiden Merino ewes.

Brad and Maria take home $1000 from major sponsors ANZ Agribusiness and NSW Stud Merino Breeders Association as well as $550 worth of wool testing from Southern Tablelands Fibre Testing.
This is the first time a Crookwell finalist has taken home the award.
The awards were swept by Crookwell farmers, ahead of Boorowa finalists Andrew Green and the Nixons.
Gavin, Shireen and Caspar McDonald from “Aberdeen”, Crookwell were voted the People’s Choice of the day with their Carrabungla bloodline maiden Merino ewes.
They receive $250 from SWL Chartered Accountants.
D’Arcy Slater from Crookwell High School won the Junior Judging on the day and also received $250 for his efforts.
Andrew Rayner, Grathlyn Merino Stud, Hargraves, NSW along with David Taylor, Merino Consultant, Albury, NSW judged the seven participants from Boorowa, Crookwell, Gunning and Taralga on farm throughout the day and were assisted by Associate Judge Sam Phillips from Yarrawonga Merino Stud, Harden, NSW.
The Judges incited discussion with the followers of the championship on a range of topics throughout the day including nutrition management of young sheep, joining rates and timing of management practices such as shearing and joining.
