It was the fourth annual Chris Turner Memorial Shield game between Boorowa and the UC Grizzlies with the Rovers winning by 28-12 whilst the League Tag Roverettes went down by 20-8.
The Rovers and the Grizzlies had a tight first half before Boorowa scored four tries in the third quarter to lead 28-6.
The Grizzlies scored the only try in the last Stanza to make it 28-12 as both teams began to feel the oppressive conditions.
The Roverettes kicked away to an early 6-0 and led 8-6 midway through their match.
The Grizzlies had the momentum in the second half and scored three unanswered tries to run out 20-8 winners.
It was a good hit out for both sides and with a few troops returning by round 1, both teams are looking forward to promising seasons.
