The results are in from the 2018 Boorowa Show Commercial Cattle Competition, with Dougal Kelly receiving the Champion Commercial Herd for his his entry of "Wallah" Angus Heifers.

Mr Kelly, who is based in Rugby, had plenty of success on the day, with placings across all of the other categories.

Boorowa Show Commercial Cattle Competition Chief Steward Angus Coles said the day went extremely well.

“There was about 25 people who went around on the bus and they had lunch at Bill and Fiona Gay’s at Rowena,” he said.

“One of the judges were Andrew Harbourne from Crookwell and the other judge was Doug Tozer from Wallendbeen.”

There was also an Encouragement Award given on the day, which went to Michael Corkhill at “Tarengo”.

“It is given to a herd that has not won the champion herd but shows potential to win in future years and has strong commercial attributes,” Mr Coles said.

Mr Coles said he would like to thank the sponsors, Corkhill’s Ag Services, Thompson’s Rural Supplies and the Boorowa Hotel.

Boorowa Show Committee Secretary Narelle Nixon said the competition has been going from strength to strength each year.

“Our committee looked at ways to hold a commercial cattle competition without the expense to owners and stress to the animals to get to a central judging point,” she said.

“We are the first society, as far as know, to initiate this form of competition for cattle, and is run similarly to Flock Ewe competitions on property.”
