Proudly described as ‘the sound of the real Australia’, the Balladeers programme consists of poems and yarns with a decidedly Australian flavour, providing a combination which has attracted a loyal following from the local community.
Local and visiting balladeers represent a wide range of subjects and styles, and the afternoon always proves interesting and entertaining for both performers and audience members.
The Balladeers programme commences at 4pm and admission is by gold coin donation. Anyone who would like to contribute can contact Derrick Mason on 6385 3213 or 0427 853 213. In 2018 the Balladeers will again join with the Boorowa M&D Society to present ‘Songs of Hope,’ a choir concert in St Patrick’s Church.
The concert, to take place on Sunday April 15, will again raise funds for the Young-Boorowa Branch of Can Assist, which plays a significant role in the district by providing assistance and support for families with family members going through cancer treatment. Visiting choirs next year will include the Australian Rugby Choir and the Gospel Folk choir from Canberra.
