Christmas parties are about in abundance but apart from Carols by Candlelight in the park this coming Sunday December 10, there is no other community celebration.
I thought that Christmas Party on Pudman that ran for only a few years had so much potential to bring the community together in a celebration of Christmas.
Unfortunately, the Party on Pudman is no more.
Hopefully someone or some organization brings it, or something equivalent, back.

I urge everyone to consider our local businesses when preparing for Christmas. I assure you, every dollar put into local businesses will be much appreciated.

Congratulations to Prince Harry and Megan Markle, engaged to be married in May. They talk about love at first sight, this could just be one of those love stories, and won’t we lap it up.
Meghan will probably face some grounding in royal protocols, which at times may even seem harder than any movie/TV script she’s ever read.
I’m sure Meghan will not have similar problems to poor Maggie who worked in a great manor house.
Expecting an important visitor, the lady of the manor said, “Now Maggie, remember when the Duchess arrives you must say ‘Your Grace’.”
The Duchess duly arrived and Maggie hurried to the door, opened it and then intoned, “May the Lord make us truly thankful for what we are about to receive.”

Now here’s one for those who don’t watch ‘Millionaire Hot Seat’. Which is the incorrect spelling?
A) TWISTIES B) TIM TAMS C) JAFFAS D) MINTIES.
It absolutely got me. There is no ‘S’ on Tim Tam. We call them Tim Tams, but eat a singular Tim Tam.
Interestingly, Tim Tam was an American thoroughbred horse winning the Kentucky Derby in 1958.
Tim Tam the biscuit was created by Ian Norris, director of food technology at Arnott’s. Ross Arnott attended the 1958 Kentucky Derby and thought the winner’s name would be perfect for a planned new biscuit line.
I guess you can say, “The rest is history” with Tim Tams hitting our food shelves in 1964.

Three old men were passing the time of day discussing the ideal way of leaving this world. The first, aged 75, said he’d like to go quickly, suggesting a crash in a high speed car. The second, aged 85, had similar thoughts, but preferred a crash in a jet propelled plane.
“I’ve got a better idea,” mused the third, aged 95, “I’d rather be shot by a jealous husband.”

The rain has been a blessing to some. To our farmers hoping to get crops in, a headache.
Looking back in time, and even today, houses had thatched roofs, thick straw piled high, with no wood underneath.
It provided a wonderful place for animals to get warm, so all cats and other small animals lived in the roof.
When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Thus we have the saying, “It’s raining cats and dogs.”

Love or hate the rain, what can you do? Movie star Denzel Washington said, “You pray for rain, you gotta deal with mud too. That’s part of it.” Consider:
‘The best thing you can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.” (Henry Wordsworth Longfellow)
