The Hawks will now have a rematch of just two weeks ago against the Crookwell Green Devils to decide the champions for 2017.
The Bears pushed the Hawks all the way and it may have only been the home ground advantage that got the Hawks across the line for a win.
The Grand Final this Sunday will be at Crookwell commencing at 2.45pm and promises to be a sensational match.
Crookwell have been the dominant side of the competition all season and rightly deserve favouritism in the big one. Just a total of five points have separated the two teams in two clashes this season.
In the regular season Crookwell won their only encounter by 14-10 whilst two weeks ago Crookwell prevailed by 25-24 in the major semi final played in falling snow. Crookwell have lost just one game this year in an upset 10-0 loss to Binalong.
Provided they play to their potential, they will prevail but it won’t be easy against the battle hardened Hawks.
The age old question of whether it is better to play every week or have the weeks break maybe the only question to haunt Crookwell who have only played once in the last three weeks.
The prediction is for Crookwell to win by eight points.
In the league tag Harden 26 beat Crookwell 0 to end the She-Devils giant killing run.
The Hawkettes now face the massive task of trying to tame the Bungendore Tigerettes who have been unbeaten all year.
Bungendore will be primed for this one after being well rested with the express passage to the grand final. The prediction is Bungendore by twenty four points.
In the youth league final, the North Canberra Bears 32 beat Crookwell Green Devils 14 and will now play the Harden Hawks in the decider at noon.
Harden has been the form team but The Bears won’t be an easy proposition.
The prediction is for Harden to win by 6 points.
Win or lose, it’s a good achievement by the Harden Hawks to have three teams in this years Grand finals.
In local league news, the presentation night for the two Boorowa teams is scheduled for Saturday, September 16 at the Boorowa Ex-Service Club at 6.30pm.
Cost is only $30 and it will be a sensational evening. Then at the same venue on September 30, the Rovers re-union celebration will be held.
Bookings for both nights can be made at the club. We’ll see you there to cap off a great rugby league year in Boorowa.
