All money raised goes to widows in the Boorowa and Yass area as is exampled with each widow receiving $200 to help pay their winter energy bill.
Very valuable help for these women.
Kay Shepherd was the lucky winner of the raffle run in conjunction with the sale of Legacy paraphernalia.
As pleasing as it is to acknowledge the success of the two days, it is no surprise to see the support Boorowa gives these worthwhile and necessary charities.

A tourist, walking through San Francisco’s Chinatown, was enjoying the artistry of the Chinese restaurants, shops, banners, etc.
Turning a corner he saw a sign ‘Moishe Plotnik’s Laundry’.
The tourist wondered how such an establishment existed in Chinatown. Wandering in he saw a fairly standard looking cleaning service, but he became aware of the uniqueness of the store when he saw baseball caps, T-shirts and coffee mugs emblazoned with the logo ‘Moishe Plotnik’s Chinese Laundry’.
Purchasing a coffee mug as a conversation piece and reminder of his visit, he was thanked by an old Chinese gentleman for making his purchase.
Puzzled, the tourist asked if the old man could explain how the business came to be known as ‘Moishe Plotnik’s Chinese Laundry”.
The old man answered, “Evleebody ask dat. It name of owner.”
Looking around, the tourist asked, “Is he here now?”
“It me, me him”, came the reply.
“Really? You’re Chinese. How did you get a name like Moishe Plotnik?”
“It simple,” said the old man, “many year ago I came to this country. I standing in line at the Document Centre of Immigration, man in front of me from Poland. Lady at counter look at him and say, ’What your name?’ Polish man say to her Moishe Plotnik”.
Then she look at me and say, “What your name?”
I say, “Sam Ting.”

I am beginning to wonder if we residents of the rural areas are the forgotten ones.
How to vote pamphlets for Boorowa’s three council aspirants went out in town I believe Monday of last week.
A whole week has passed and no pamphlet has turned up in our mailbox.
I know other Brial Road residents have not received the pamphlets.
What is going on? I might add, this is not the first time we have not received a district wide mail out.
I am worried about this election, and the fact that residents are missing out on vital informative mail is alarming.
Hopefully, all have received this information before you read this in today’s paper. If not, please let me know.

Don’t forget to vote this Saturday, September 9.
Polling places in the Boorowa area are much as we know them – Boorowa Central School, Frogmore Hall and Rye Park School. Voting times 8am to 6pm.
This is an historic vote electing eleven councilors to sit on the inaugural Hilltops Council.
Boorowa has three very strong candidates in Wendy Tuckerman, Jack Ryan and Chris Corcoran and Boorowa needs them on this council.
Don’t waste your vote. As I said last week:
Love, like or loathe them, put Boorowa first and vote this experienced group onto the inaugural Hilltops Council”. (John Snelling, WITS, Aug 31, 2017)
