The boys had to either win or lose by less than seven to go into the next round of the finals.

They got off to a good start and were leading by 10-0 at half time. 

The Goldies scrum was under serious pressure all day. 

They were losing their own ball and conceding some penalties. 

In a way it kills me to say it but the Goldies really missed the presence of their resident winger/prop Adam Mocka-eat-a-welsh-man-or-two. 

Unfortunately he is not back for this weekend’s game.

The Goldies also welcomed back some much needed experience. 

Brad Rose was back from his three month holiday in the Greek Islands where he sold paddle pops on the beach. 

Justin Fleming Club President was also back from his two month holiday in Russia where he consulted to the Russian government on real estate in rural Australia (Prodavat. Prodavat. Prodavat). 

Angus Merriman was back from four months holiday in Greenland where he spent most of his time walking in forests and climbing trees.

The backs had a really strong afternoon in defence fronted up by Brad Rose as well as the outside backs.

Upfront Captain Mart and Friendy had a great game with some strong carries and big tackles.

Unfortunately they weren’t big enough to keep the Goldies in the lead with the boys going down 17-13. 

A huge shout out must go to the referee…for being the biggest idiot to ever step onto a footy pitch… 

Not only was he afraid to make a decision, on the rare occasion when he did make a decision he would overturn it if someone from the opposing team swore at him.

Another shout out must go to the travelling fans who braved the cold, windy afternoon on the sideline. Great effort supporters.

This weekend the boys take on Taralga again in the minor semi (that’s the football term, not sexual) which is a knock out. 

The game is on in Taralga again, kick off is at 2.30pm.
