After a tough loss the previous week, the Roverettes returned to the winner’s circle last Saturday with a convincing 32-8 win over the Binalong Jersey girls. The win maintains Boorowa in the top five with a semi-final spot now a real possibility in a remarkable season for the new team.

Boorowa found themselves trailing the Jersey girls 4-0 early on after a nice 50 metre run by Jessie Abnett for Binalong. Boorowa struck back shortly after to level the scores at 4-4 when Molly Stephens crossed in the corner. Just five minutes later Amanda Noakes went over from close range and converted the try to make it 10-4. Amanda was in again just before halftime with a converted try to push the score out to 16-4 at the break. It was probably a fair reflection of the first half as Boorowa had dominated possession and field position.
In the second half, it was Boorowa who went further ahead when Molly Stephens scored her second try after a great run pushing the score line out to 22-4. To their credit, the Jersey girls didn’t give in and launched a couple of good attacking raids before crossing the Boorowa stripe through Taylah Frost. However the try was unconverted and the gap was still 22-8. The Roverettes put the result beyond doubt when Mackella Pye crossed with just ten minutes left to take the lead to 26-8. Molly Stephens then completed a hat rick of tries late in the half and a nice conversion to Danielle James put the icing on a solid 32-8 win. It was a great team effort with Molly Stephens having an outstanding game to get three points, Rachel Corkery was everywhere and picked up two points whilst Amanda Noakes got one point. Players Player went to Danielle James who put in another good performance and is proving handy with the kicking boot.
This week the girls face a massive task on Saturday to overcome the unbeaten Bungendore Tigerettes who have been dominant all season. However that won’t stop the Roverettes from believing they can win and cause a major upset.
In other games last week Bungendore 24 beat Gunning 0, Harden 38 beat UC Grizzlies 0 and Crookwell 40 beat North Canberra 0.
The ladder after round 13 sees Bungendore 26, Harden 24, Boomanulla 22, Crookwell 20, Boorowa 18, Gunning 12, Binalong 12, North Canberra 8, UC Grizzlies 6, ADFA 4. UC Grizzlies and ADFA have a game in hand.
The league tag will kick off at 1.30 pm so be sure to get up to the Showground early to watch the Roverettes in action.
