Last weekend the Goldies took on Gungahlin Bald Eagles at home with a very depleted side on paper, however they managed to win by a whopping score line of 34-0.

It was a huge effort defensively by the boys who were relentless.
The set piece worked really well which gave the backs a great platform to work off.
A few times early in the first half the Eagles (not the band) built some phases but were unable to get across the line.
The Goldies threw around the ball and looked to go wide on nearly every occasion. However, on more than one occasion the Goldies hands were letting them down.
Diesel McGrath told me after the game he counted 213 knock-ons…
The forward were again led up front by Tim Gregory, the best Gregory boy according to Jim Shagga.
Tim also tried his hand at a conversion and to everyone’s surprise on the side-line gave it a good nudge but missed slightly…
Mate you are a forward… Stick to the rucks and mauls… Leave the kicking to the glory hunters…
James Trotter also had a massive afternoon making some great meters and crunching tackles… He also had a big night... Good on ya Trotts, we are all really proud of you boy.
The backs were in flying form with some great distribution from Lockie McGuinness (who is Brad Rose).
Matt Thomas had a really solid game on the wing.
Can’t really take Matt seriously wearing shorts after seeing him in a dress and high heels at his bucks two weeks ago!
However he brought the fan club, father-in-law to be Dave Corcoran and finance Lou who were extremely animated.
I spoke to Tim Corcoran on Monday and he is filthy that Davo watches his son in law to be and never travels to Wagga to watch him play for the Tahs.
Well Tim, I have some advice for you – ow about you come home and play for the Goldies next season and your Dad can watch you ever week, ya sook!
Tim also pointed out to me on the phone that we got player’s player, three points and a try.
Mate no one cares… We all know the Tahs would get smashed by the Goldies.
The backs were spreading the ball as much as they could which made it great running footy.
They looked for all money to score what would have been sensational try.
They were running the ball at pace through the backline however it all came undone when our resident fat winger knocked the ball on.
Yep that’s right he was lurking out on the wing again… Unbelievable.
This weekend the Goldies play Batemans Bay down in the bay.
Can’t wait to hear the excuses, injuries and lies from the players so they don’t have to travel.
Tom Simpson has already declared himself unfit because he will be busy on Facebook!
This weeks point went to:
- 3 points – James Trotter (mainly for effort off the pitch)
- 2 points – Matt Thomas
- 1 point – The British and Irish Lions
- Players’ Player – James Trotter
- Chicks’ Pick – Jim Mad Shagga McGrath
