Cherry-Evans was able to sink the crucial field goal in extra time as Manly secured a 21-20 win over the Canberra Raiders at Lottoland.
The result means Manly sits in sixth spot on the NRL ladder after 13 rounds.
The Raiders remain in ninth position on the ladder.
The Sea Eagles appeared to have sealed victory when they led 20-6 at half time.
However, two tries by Jordan Ropana and two conversions by Jarrod Croker helped the Raiders fight back to 20-18 in the dying stages of the contest.
Croker then nailed a penalty goal after the final siren to lock up proceedings at 20-all.
In the early minutes of extra time, the Raiders coughed up possession in their back half courtesy of forward Junior Paulo.
Manly capitalised on the error, setting up an opportunity for Cherry-Evans to nail the winning field goal.
