Round one of the prestigious George Tooke Shield kicks off this weekend and it doesn't come any tougher for the Boorowa teams as they face off against the North Canberra Bears in Canberra.
The Rovers have a tough assignment against the Bears and will start as outsiders against the defending Premiers.
However with recent preseason wins over Boomanulla and the UC Grizzlies, the team will go into the game with plenty of confidence.
In the corresponding clash last season, the Bears won 32-6, but plenty of water has gone under the bridge since then and it's a vastly more experienced team that will rattle the Bears cage this time around.
The defending Premiers will be fully aware of the improved Rovers outfit and won't take the visitors lightly.
If the Rovers can eliminate the basic errors they made in last week’s trial against the Grizzlies and stick to playing to their game plan and structures, an upset may not surprise.
Meanwhile the Roverettes have a tough ask as well, but like the Rovers are coming off some solid preseason form.
They have defeated two competitors in their competition, Binalong and UC Grizzlies in recent weeks and are starting to develop into a very competitive outfit that will only get even better as the season rolls on.
Coach Brendon Shean and his assistants have done a remarkable job and the girls themselves are now playing with plenty of belief.
In other games in the George Tooke Shield, Bungendore take on ADFA, UC Grizzlies Play Boomanulla, Crookwell host Gunning and Harden take on arch rivals Binalong in an absolute block buster in Harden.
The Boorowa matches are played at Jamison oval in Canberra this Saturday with the league tag starting at 1.30pm whilst the Rovers will tackle North Canberra at 2.45pm.
Supporters are also invited back to the home of Boorowa league, the Courthouse hotel, on Saturday night to join the teams in their after match activities.
It's a massive year ahead for your local league teams so why not be a part of it.
