Previously it was known as the Burrowa News.
Today’s stories from the past come from the Boorowa News of April 27.
Election news was dominating and also news of the jubilee of Federation.
Australian flags were given to the Boorowa Convent and Boorowa Central School to celebrate 50 years since federation.
Among the Page 1 lead stories was Rev A.A Smith’s inspiring address delivered at the Anzac Day Service at the Boorowa Soldiers War Memorial.
In news from Frogmore under THE ROAD TO COME (Page 7) the announcement that the Shire Council is to put an asphalt road right through the village during the latter part of this year, has caused general satisfaction and pleasure among long suffering locals.
The road will not come soon enough and the day that it is completed will be a great day for Frogmore.
From the Boorowa Shire Council (Page 3) came news that, “...Sufficient materials are now on hand for the Boorowa -Rye Park Electricity Extension.”
The Shire Clerk, Mr Kenny, reported some difficulty has been experienced in arranging the necessary loan (45,000 pounds) to finance the Rye Park – Frogmore – Rugby extension lines that would provide electricity for those centres.
Meanwhile Bushby’s were advertising that they carried stocks of lamps and spare parts as readers should prepare for the blackouts.
