It is an exciting time for the community of Boorowa who finally get to see the beautiful new Centre operational.
Around $700,000 has been spent on the renovation of the facility allowing children aged from six weeks to five years to now be provided with early education locally.
The new centre will be licensed to care for 76 children, and will be open for longer hours and be operational for 50 weeks of the year.
Thanks to a Federal government grant of $550,000 and a huge contribution from Bendigo Community Bank of $132,000 up-grades to the facility including a major extension of the building as well as the purchase of new resources and equipment were possible.
The former Boorowa Council supported the project by providing in kind contributions amounting to $32,000 and also provided valuable support in the project management. The community has also rallied to support the project with a trivia night organised by The Riles Family raising over $13,000, The Southern Phones Company granted $7000 for a storage shed, and the Boorowa Goldies donated $4000 from its annual ladies day fundraiser. On the day the Boorowa Arts and Crafts Co-op made a donation to the project and we would also like to recognise the contribution by Patron, Mrs Margaret Arnott.
The completion of this project could not have happened without the huge commitment of the volunteer sub-committee Julie Dymock, Bubs Kelly, Anthony McMahon, Belinda Reid, Sarah Rose, John Ryan, Adam Stewart and Wendy Tuckerman. The time invested by these individuals has been enormous, with countless hours dedicated to allow the completion of the project. A huge thank you to these people on behalf of the whole community for their vision and passion which saw this project reach completion.
The new service is set to begin operating in mid July, with enrolments now open.
