Boorowa charity bale auctioned

The fleeces from the Boorowa wool charity bale class were auctioned at the Sydney Wool Sales last week.
The charity bale class at this year's 125th Boorowa Show in March evolved after a turbulent summer, given the devastation caused by the bushfire within the Boorowa Shire last year.
Boorowa Landmark stock agent and Boorowa Show Flock Ewe Competition committee member Rick Power and Boorowa Show Society chief steward, wool, Sue Braid, set up the competition, which saw local woolgrowers enter three fleeces.
The fleeces were micron tested, weighed and current market value was applied to each fleece.
Entrants were given the option of donating their entries from the Boorowa charity bale classes.
Ms Braid said entrants from other classes of the wool section also generously donated many of their fleeces for the charity bale.
The proceeds from the 2014 Charity Bale will go to Boorowa hospital and the Boorowa Wool Harvest Project.
The project aims to help local young people get a start in the wool industry by providing assistance with costs associated with attending shearing schools.
"I am proud of the dedication of my wool section stewards each year, especially this year with the commencement of our charity bale," Ms Braid said.
"They give 110 per cent each year and the community gets so much pleasure to view our section each year's Boorowa Show."
