Two-year-old Annalee is currently suffering from a rare brain tumour and is the daughter of former local boy Troy and Lauren McGuigan.
Troy and Lauren are currently living in Sydney to be with their daughter and close to medical help.
They have put their lives on hold but unfortunately the bills aren’t so sympathetic.
To help with this financial burden Boorowa made an inspiring community effort supporting a little girl whom most would never had met.
The night brought out the best in human kindness with all auction and raffle items donated, helping the night raise an astounding $16,000.
A major raffle, eight chocolate wheels and an auction featured at the fundraiser.
This night wouldn’t have been possible without the generous donations of goods by local businesses and the Boorowa Ex Services Club which supported the cause generously, and thanks to John Snelling and Neil Langford of 2LF.
Also crucial was the help of MC Darrell Armour, auctioneer Ricky Power, scorers Des Grimson, Sara Cross, and runners Brent Armour, Jason McGuigan, Peter Oliver, Dalwyn Taylor, Phil, Trish and Shane Riles.
Organisers Taryn and Chloe Riles are overwhelmed by the generosity and support outlayed by the Boorowa community and are proud to be part of this community.
“Eight weeks of organising and planning the night was minimal effort to see the night come together, with great community spirit,” Taryn Riles said.
“Chloe and I were just blown away with the response to the night and we feel very humbled to be a part of this community and we would like to personally thank everyone involved who supported and attended the night. Thank you!
“Special mention must go out to everyone who donated, especially those who donated auction items. Carruthers Machinery Young and Aussie Hotel Yass, you guys are awesome.”
The night’s events saw some competitive bidding by many, with Wheelers Greyhound Kennels being the successful bidder offering a fantastic $4500 on the main auction item, “The Invincibles”, The Greats of 1948 Cricket memorabilia.
Other successful bidders included Tim Shean, Robyn Armour, Garry Apps, John Barton, Gavin Campbell, Darcy Horton, Krissy Halls, Steve Miles, Deb Barclay and Lucy Constance.
The night was full of fun and humour with the lucky door prize being a car door.
Winners of the major raffle were: 1st Brainee Liddle, 2nd Sascha Craig, 3rd LR Corcoran, 4th Graham Carmody, 5th Jade O’Hanlon and 6th Tim Riles.
Troy and Lauren would like to convey their personal heartfelt thanks to everyone and hope Annie will one day soon be well enough to visit Boorowa and thank you all.
