The latest New South Wales budget has delivered much-needed funding to public libraries across the state, including $106,536 to libraries in the Hilltops Local Government Area.

This is an increase on the $86,117 in 2018/19.
The state government has upped its funding to New South Wales libraries by $13 million, allocating $36.5m in funding in the 2019/20 budget compared to $23.5m in the 2018/19 budget.
New South Wales libraries had been hit with an 18 per cent ($5.3m) cut in the 2018/19 budget and Yass Valley Library was concerned it would have to cut hours and services as a result.
In August 2018, councils across the state, the New South Wales Public Libraries Association and Local Government New South Wales formed the Renew Our Libraries campaign.

The state government has also promised $24m over four years to improve library buildings and IT systems and $500,000 over four years to expand audio and braille books to people who are blind or have low vision in New South Wales.
