It's often a long trek out to the new development areas to find this kind of townhouse, but at 1 Maria Place there are two right in the middle of Canberra.
While the two homes at 1 Maria Place sit just 10 minutes' walk from Westfield Woden, they offer a spacious four-bedroom lifestyle.
"They feel more like actual separate titled homes, because they're not attached," says Martha Harridemos, owner of developer New Age Living Homes. "Each one will have its own private yard area, and it's a corner block, so each one is facing a different street.
"It'll make them feel like they're two separate homes."
Designed by award-winning architect Hugh Gordon, the houses have airy, expansive interiors, which open to north-facing courtyards. Ground-floor main suites feature en suites and walk-in wardrobes, while each of the three additional bedrooms has a built-in wardrobe.
Two living areas to each townhouse, and at least one study, provide plenty of space for family living.
"Each one will get around 400 to 430 square metres of block area," Harridemos says. "We tried to do open area, high ceilings wherever possible."
Lyons is a quiet gem, close to the amenity of Woden and well connected through Tuggeranong Parkway. "The best part about living in Lyons is that you're so close to Woden," Harridemos says. "It's an excellent suburb to live in."
Maria Place blends the convenience of Lyons' central location with the peaceful calm of a cul de sac. "I like the street that we've got this project, the actual area where this project is, it's really quiet," Harridemos says.
Built with all the mod cons, the houses have Bosch kitchen appliances, Caroma & Dorf bathroom fittings, timber floors, double glazing, ducted reverse-cycle air-conditioning, double garages with internal access and a security system.
Construction has started at 1 Maria Place, with completion expected in April 2018. Both townhouses are still available for sale.

A sweeping span of windows draws the eye as you step into the large open-plan living area at 21 Derwent Street. Facing north, the space is filled with natural light.
Outside, a covered alfresco dining area is the ideal place to sit back and relax, overlooking the custom tiled pool.
A crisp modern design accentuates the quality of the fittings and fixtures, with clean lines smoothly integrating the kitchen, living and dining space. The designer kitchen has Miele appliances and Franke tapware. Both the generous main suite and guest bedroom have walk-in wardrobes and en suites, while the two additional bedrooms feature built-in wardrobes. Parkland is practically on your doorstep, with Oakley Hill Nature Reserve just three minutes' walk away, while amenity is just around the corner at Westfield Woden.
Completion is expected in July 2018.
