The Rotary Club of Boorowa are thrilled to announce the return of the competition and encourage everyone who enjoys knitting, crocheting, felting, sewing or anyone who is feeling creative to have a go and enter.
Organiser Lyn Diskon said she was amazed by the popularity of the competition in 2014.
“In 2014, we did it as an add on for Irish Woolfest,” she said.
“It was very, very successful.”
The organisers in 2014 were expecting twenty entries however received 39 entries that were on exhibition during Woolfest. Lyn said the inspiration and the idea for the competition came from both the Boorowa Irish Woolfest and the Alice Springs Beanie Festival.
“We want people to use their imaginations to create something that is in keeping with our Australian heritage, our Irish/Australian heritage,” she said.
Lyn said everyone who has a go and contributes to the competition will be helping out a very worthy cause.
“It’s important, funds raised go to the Australian Rotary Health’s ‘Lift the Lid’ project researching mental health,” she said.
The competition will feature a number of categories and entries close September 23. Entry forms are available at the Boorowa Community Op-Shop, Boorowa Library, Town Clock Cafe and other venues in town.
Entries will be on display during Irish Woolfest on Sunday, October 1 at 113a Pudman Street, Boorowa, right next door to the brand new Boorowa Community Op-Shop, which will be open during Woolfest.
