The theme for the night was visual merchandising, with the program run by Sarah Davies from the Australian Retailers Association (ARA).
The workshop, which RDA Southern Inland has run across the Southern Inland region, provides retailers with the foundations and steps to successfully design and merchandise their retail store to showcase their products and drive a strong commercial return.
12 businesses from the Hilltops and Yass Valley region participated in the workshop, which was followed by a limited number of one-on-one consultations with Sarah Davies the following day.
The one-on-one store visits were designed to assist the workshop attendees in implementing their learnings from the previous night.
Sarah Davies from the ARA explained, “The one-on-one store visits were an excellent opportunity for the retailers to discuss ideas and concepts they had learnt from the workshop.”
“To be discussing hands on practical visual merchandising concepts and then seeing them come to life by physically making changes in store was an excellent way for the retailers to develop confidence and a better understanding of visual merchandising.”
Wendy Dunk from Wilders Bakery in Young attended the workshop and also had a follow up consultation with Sarah the following day.
Wendy is already looking to implement some of Sarah’s recommendations.
“I absolutely loved it and I thought Sarah was fabulous. She called in the next morning and I could have talked to her all day… I’m doing a few of the things right now that she told me to do,” Wendy stated.
RDA Southern Inland is looking to run follow up workshops in the Hilltops region later in the year, including a website building workshop.
