It was suggested to me that I was somewhat critical of the standard of play in a recent golf report.

My intention was to inform readers of the extremely difficult playing conditions that golfers faced contending with something close to gale force winds.
No offence was directed at any golfers ability.
I am sorry to any player who may have taken offence to my assessment of the event in question as no suggestion of a golfers ability was intended.
Thankfully the wind's velocity was kept to a level that enabled a more enjoyable time on Boorowa’s golf course last Saturday, August 12, with scores more in accord with our local golfers usual results.
The Boorowa Rec Club sponsored a club trophy, played as a stroke competition with a strong field challenging for the coveted winner’s prize.
I may have to stand corrected, but I think, for his first win, Tom Corcoran, beat the rest of the field with a net 61.
A well deserved congratulations to Tom as he is a rather new competitor to competition golf.
One of our Murringo supporters, Brian Smith came in as a very close runner up to Tom with net 62.
This was a fine effort from Brian as he plays with some difficulty with some health issues.
However I'm sure Brian would say, he's no Robinson Crusoe.
That leaves third place ball comp winner, golf club president, Robert Dunwoodie with net 64.
Well done to all players who continually turn up to form a strong field for competition each week.
Next Saturday, August 19, golfers will vie for the Bernard Ryan Memorial stroke event.
This trophy has been a competition for many years and has created some intense concentration over the 18 holes as it is a strongly contested event.
All Boorowa golf members are notified that the Men's Championships are fast approaching and are to be contested over 54 holes with 27 holes played on Saturday, September 2 and 27 holes on Sunday, September 3.
Good play is wished for all golfers and, whatever the outcome, enjoy your sport.
